Justin Marsden grew up and currently lives in Downey, CA. After barely graduating from high school in 2008, his son was born, and he entered the work force. He held jobs as a driver, an office assistant, and bussed tables. He started at Fullerton College for the first time in 2012 with no idea what he wanted to study. He took some interesting classes in communication, and with guidance of STOMP founder Daphne, he decided to declare communication as his major. At Fullerton, he got involved on campus with student organizations like STOMP and was a senator in student government. Marsden transferred to the USC Annenberg School for Communication where he developed a passion for studying mass communication and graduated in 2016 with a B.A in Communication.
His current research interests are the effects of media portrayals of minority populations on viewer perceptions and more specifically analyzing the presence, portrayal, and participation of disability in popular media and subsequent effects on viewers.
